Vain - Madrid 29-05-05

Hi everyones,
Sorry to create another VAIN topic but hey that ain't every year that we have the chance to get a tour like this one. So after the London show, the Frisco band arrived in Madrid on saturday for the RockAngels party.
The doors open around 22h00 and the first starts to play at 22h45. A spanish local act : HARAKIRI (with "Lili" exsinger from SANGRE AZUL, talks a bit too much onstage and I didn't understand a fuckin' word of the whole set except the song "Soy el rey de la ciudad"). Anyway after 'em a good rockin' band from Barcelona came onstage and did a good an hour show : BAD WAY. A mix between glam and heavy rock, they've got a new album out, they did two good covers (everything about you by UKJ, and Paradice City), catchy songs, I like the whole set as it was the second time that i saw 'em. At 1h30 the starz of the nite appears, in front of (around) 300 people : VAIN !
"You know what I've heard Madrid : my my my Secrets !" Starts the show. And it blows me away.
Everything was great, the sound level, the guys in the band, Davy who is a damn good frontman crawling like a reptile looking for Madrid chixx. They played almost 1hour 30, songs from all of their albums (ex. Fade). After the show they came back to sign & take pictures with anyone who wants to. The party at the Ritmo Y compas club ended at 4h00, then I went out with cool spanish chicks met at the club, in a metal club until 7h00.
I'm listening to On the line new cd now, and it rocks like the whole Vain Show.

Hey I was at that gig too! Well Lili talked too much, but he was fucking funny [img]wink.gif[/img] .And for me it was very exciting listenning "El rey de la ciudad" alive again, as I saw SANGRE AZUL 16 years ago(with the other singer).
I knew there were some boys from Portugal, but I didn't know also from France...

I saw Vain at the London date and thought they were bon appetit. The new songs sounded really good which i was surprised about!

The piece de resistance though was the ACDC cover, i'm a huge Bon fan and didn't expect that. Damn that was good, everyone got down n dirty down the front.

My girl also took a shitload of photos up close of the band playing, maybe i'll get 'em uploaded. But more than likely not. cos i suck.

Also, saw Vain wandering the streets of London a few hours later. So my band escorted them to the aftershow party at Soho's Intrepid Fox, and in we went with them. While a pied piper following didnt get in. ha ha

By the photo of your avatar I think that I remind you from the show, you were in the front row with a Robin Black shirt weren't you ?
I was the guy wearing a Metal Sludge shirt with a red bandana on the head (but there's a photo of me & Davy on the page linked above).
Yeah for you spanish listeners Lili seemed to be funny but i don't understand a word he said... only understand spanish "palabras" when it's spoken slowly... but I could understand & sing that tune : "Soy el rey de la ciudad"

I wish I could come back to Madrid Friday for Motley Crue, I really enjoyed my weekend there, and goin' out with the guys from Bad way, Lili, & all the spanish fans at the Excalibur club was great. For sure you know how to put on great parties ! But they're also playin' in Zaragoza, and it's less far from me, and I have friends from Barcelona who are goin' to Zaragoza too.

For sure I'm interested in pix & videos of that show !

Yes, it was me the girl on the ROBIN BLACK top, I have seen your pic, and I remember u too. I have a good memory...C ya on Zaragoza, even they will be here tomorrow, close to my house... I will do both shows! I'm so nervous waiting for CR?E.. my friends from Barcelona r going also to Zaragoza [img]wink.gif[/img] .If I see u, I will say: Ca va [img]wink.gif[/img]

Sure we know how to spend a good time in Spain...
Excalibur is fine if u dont go too much, is like a time machine... is like this used to be 15 years ago... It was better when a friend of mine was DJ, 'cause when I arrive he played MIKE MONROE, TOILET BOYS, etc... but still u can listen some good music there... next time u come here better go to STAR...
